Great gifts. Great food. Lotsa laughter.
There were gravy boats of memories generously ladled over huge helpings of tales and stories.
Of which most were true. Sort of.
Okay, okay. Perhaps there were some (slight) embellishments to the stories. But that's like putting bacon bits and chives on mashed potatoes.
It only makes 'em better.
A phone call was answered by one then passed around to the many. Facetime and Skype occupied a laptop that migrated around the room.
Distances disappeared, replaced by memories, updates of the present, and future plans.
All this was accompanied by a growing appreciation for the Unlimited Data Plan.
A long, enjoyable day came to a reluctant end. We packed up the plunder and a few take-home kilocalories as the Christmas gathering ambled towards the door.
And there we got the best gifts of all.
The hugs and kisses from folks that love us.
Even after knowing and growing up with us all those years.
