Well, late for me.
A guy at work plays in a band.
The band had a gig tonight at the Roadhouse. So I went.
He and the bank play pretty good.
And loud.
Really loud.
And I even knew some of the songs.
They were really loud songs.
But now I'm home.
Not quite the party animal, but I'm 2 hours past my bedtime.
Which is only about an hour later than a grade-schooler's.
So I guess for regulars at the Roadhouse, it's still pretty early.
It'll be loud for another three hours or so.
Anyway, I'm hedging my bet that I won't be getting up with the robins tomorrow morning.
So here it is. A rerun from the Archives. October of 2012.
To you faithful five that have been with me since the beginning, you might remember it.
And you are expecting something different.
For this, I apologize.
And for you two new readers, it will be something you've never read before.
And you're expecting something different.
For this, I also apologize.
So, apologies aside, here is a "Blast from the Past".
I'm going to bed, as soon as I answer the phone.
Who would be -
Oh. Never mind.
It's my ears.
They're still ringing.
G'night.

THE BIG PICTURE
So that's the Big Picture, eh?
Somedays, it's really just too ... honkin' ... big.
Like it's tipping over,
crashing down, crushing me.
All I want to do is scream "Incoming!" and duck.
It’s on days like this,
I need those Little Pictures.
You know, those little ones that come 4-for-a-buck.
In that little booth, where it’s just you and a friend, a loved
one.
A quick snapshot of a good time.
My Little Pictures are probably different from yours.
But I think we all have ‘em.
Check 'em out.
Here are my Little Pictures:
Friendly banter with the
Wife.
Sharing bad jokes with Techno-Boy.
“Just-saying-Hi” calls
from the DAGU (Daughter All
Grown Up).
A hot cup of Elixir on a cold morning.
God painting a cotton-candy sunrise/sunset.
Licking the frosting spoon.
That enjoyable inconvenience of unannounced friends stopping by.
Remembering the good times ...
Little Pictures sometimes get lost in that huge, overwhelming shadow of the Big Picture.
That’s when I have to go looking for them.
And I always find them.
There.
In the quiet.
Right where I left them.
So if it looks a little overwhelming today, go find your Little Pictures.
You might have to look a bit, but that's okay.
You'll remember where you put
'em.
They're right there.
Close to your heart.
Yeah. I keep mine there, too.
