I might have to start either watering down the Elixir or using less beans.
It might be just a little too much of a good thing.
This morning, a couple of pulls brings about a thought.
And the thought brings two things together that probably wouldn't pair up without the help of the Elixir.
The Cheshire Cat.
And Randy Travis.
Yeah.
Some strong Elixir, this is.
The Cheshire Cat.
That strange feline from "Alice In Wonderland", Disney version.
It's talking to Alice as it appears magically out of nothing and then fades out to nothing.
Smoothly, with disturbing ease.
Like being beamed up by Scotty without all that sparkly, swirly space static.
Just fade in, fade out.
The only thing left was its smile.
A big smile.
A freakishly big smile that is the last thing one ever sees of the Cheshire Cat.
Kinda creepy, actually.
And now I hear Randy Travis' song, "Three Wooden Crosses".
The end of the chorus goes like this:
"I guess it's
not what you take
when you leave this world
behind you,
It's what you leave
behind you when you go."
Like the story I read about a lady named Dorcas.
She left behind so much love, shown by the tangible, hands-on things she did, no one wanted to see her go.
So Peter and the Holy Spirit listened and did the impossible.
And she came back for awhile to pass out a little more love and a lot more sewing.
Wow.
I heard it said that we should live our lives in such a way that when we die even the undertaker is sad to see us go.
Like Dorcas. Leaving a lotta love.
And even that goofy ol' Cat - leaving a big smile.
But it's still a little creepy.
Oh, um, not Dorcas.
The Cat.
