It's like when you have a good cold or the flu. Everything goes in the microwave. No cookin' from scratch.
So, with my apologies, here is a microwaved rerun. It was in the back of the freezer. Dated January.
Set the timer for about, ah, a minute-10.
That oughta do it.
I think I'm goin' to take another nap.
-------------------------------
Funny how things wander in and out of the mind, eh?
I'm sitting in the
Chair, looking out the window at foot-long icicles hanging just on the other side of the glass.
Like huge teeth.
Like clear, pointy canines.
Now I know how Tweety Bird felt on
occasion.
Stinkin' puddy tat.
Oh-oh.
The mind is off and running now.
Getting bitten leads to Emergency
Room.
Emergency Room leads to Doctors.
Doctors to ... Toe Tweaking.
Huh.
And that's with no Elixir, folks.
Toe Tweaking.
I remember an article about how doctors are perceived by patients. It wasn't the degrees, the professionalism, or the knowledge that had them perceived as good doctors.
It was the little things.
They asked an old guy stuck in a room who was a good doctor.
He told them.
When they asked him why the old man replied with a twinkle in his eye,
"'Cause he tweaks my big toe when he leaves."
That doctor knew the value of
making a connection with his patient.
And hopefully, the patient wasn't in there for a foot ailment.
The doc showed he cared.
By tweakin' a toe.
Huh.
Then I start to remember this week where He tweaked my toe, letting me know He was there.
That He cared.
Driving to work yesterday, I came
around a corner to see a bald eagle, standing tall on a frozen road kill.
It watched me drive slowly by. Cool, eh?
Toe Tweakin' can be different
for different folks.
It could be going through the drive-up and getting the very first bag of a new batch of hot, fresh fries.
Or a perfectly made latte at that little shop.
An email from a friend.
Or a card.
A chance meeting that brightens the day.
Let's see how many times He tweaks our toes today.
Just to say hi.
Just to say that He loves us.
Hey, I just thought of a new Beatitude.
Well, sort of.
"Blessed are the tweaked, for they
shall receive a smile."
