When I'm stuck at home on a Sunday morning, I always try to catch the CBS morning show, "Sunday Morning" with Charles Osgood. Yeah, that guy with the bow tie.
I just like the way he does the news. The stories. There's a feel to the show that is relaxing. Friendly.
I only caught the last ½ hour due to phlegm fighting in the wee hours. But what I caught had me thinking.
Mr. Osgood stated that Christmas is about remembering and reunions.
Huh.
Sip. Ponder. Sip.
Sip.
Yeah. He might have something there. Since I'm kinda fogged in this morning, here's a test for you to do. Get your Elixir. Go ahead and shout out whether it's remembering or reunions or both.
Think of this as a board game for one. Without a board. Or other things.
O Come All Ye Faithful?
White Christmas?
Silent Night?
I'll Be Home for Christmas?
And, of course, that bastion of Yuletide commercialism:
"Mama Got Run Over by a Reindeer?
Whaddaya think? It fits, eh?
The Reason for the Season is remembering on our part God's grace and gift. And the reunion is God giving the Gift and our acceptance of the wonderful Gift.
I think Mr. Osgood might be right. And he wears a bowtie.
It seems like all the smart guys wear 'em.
I'm gonna hafta get one.
And if I keep my mouth shut, I just might pull it off.
